Live in Lexington Concert Series

Community Outreach

In conjunction with their appearances for the LIVE! in Lexington concerts, many of the visiting artists offer student performances in addition to the regular concerts. LIVE! in Lexington attempts to book these educational opportunities for local youth whenever possible. The LIVE! in Lexington Concert Series is extremely grateful to be the sole recipient of the Kramer Endowment Fund for underwriting the cost of our STAR Education Program, which has served hundreds of students in numerous schools the past few years.

The STAR Education Student Outreach Program is under the auspices of Live On Stage, Inc. It is their belief, and ours, that the youth in our audiences are our future concert goers and performers. To that end, artists are encouraged to offer educational programming that supplements and enhances the concert performance. The Star Education Program offers artists the opportunity to present either a 45-minute Master Class or a 45-minute matinee performance. These programs are specifically designed to spark interest and enthusiasm in the performing arts and to introduce "world class" artists to students and local communities on a personal level.

Two area schools will be selected for matinee performances during the 2011 - 2012 season. Aion Clark and the Carpe Diem String Quartet will perform for area schools and talk with the students. Teachers report that these opportunties encourage and educate their students by exposing them to professional muscians and performers. These performances are closed to the public.

The ARTS IN ACTION Scholarship is a one-time, $1,000.00 scholarship available to university/college-bound high school seniors or current university freshmen, sophomores or juniors seeking a career path in the entertainment arts. This includes vocal or instrumental performance, theatre/acting, theatre/technical, or music business. A local concert presenter affiliated with, and currently receiving concert services, with Live On Stage, Inc., must sponsor applicants. LIVE! in Lexington would be pleased to sponsor a local scholarship applicant. Applicants with financial need will receive priority consideration, but it is not a prerequisite.
