Hello from your Board of Directors!

There is much excitement as we look forward to another year of international performers coming to this area to provide a wide variety of high-quality entertainment. And now that we have five successful learning years behind us, expansion of our program is taking place.

One important facet is making "LIVE!" truly an area organization, encompassing not only Lafayette County but our friends across the river in Richmond and environs. We have members working in both areas to make this happen, and we fully expect our membership rolls to expand greatly during this coming year and beyond.

To begin, LIVE! has added an additional concert this year with no ticket price increase!

Next, we are offering a special bonus to members who renew by May 1. Those who do so will receive a free Flex Ticket for each membership purchased. As you know, Flex Tickets (normally costing 2 for $50) may be used at any concert. We are doing this to reward your faithful support and to make it easy for you to introduce friends and/or family to this wonderful entertainment.

This summer we plan to begin a regular email newsletter which will be sent to all members who wish to receive it. The newsletter will be published before each concert and whenever there is news of the organization to share. (If you prefer NOT to receive it, please Reply to this email and put "No Thanks" in the Subject line. We will be glad to honor your request.)

Our annual membership drive will begin officially on May 1, and you can be our ambassadors in the community.

Here are some facts to share:

  • Live! in Lexington (LIL) was established in 2002 by local citizens interested in bringing top level professional musicians and entertainers to the area.

  • LIL is the only program like this, serving rural and small-town Missouri, within 100 miles.

  • LIL is about to begin our sixth successful season.

  • LIL presents wholesome, quality productions for audiences of all ages.

  • Live! in Lexington is committed to youth education, with school concerts given by some of the professional performers at the schools with no cost to the school. We rotate these performances among all of our supporting communities. The sessions are paid for from a fund established for that purpose.

  • LIL is sponsored by Lexington Community Betterment Association, a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization. Any contribution above the base ticket price is tax deductible.

  • Live On Stage in Nashville, Tennessee, acts as our booking agent and provides internationally acclaimed performers, plus any additional support our organization should need. Contracts are signed over a year in advance of the new season.

  • Concerts are held at Wentworth Military Academy Chapel at 7:30 p.m. with occasional performances "on the road" at the Farris Theatre in Richmond. We are now establishing a close working relationship with those folks.

  • Handicap parking is available upon request, and it is possible to drop off passengers behind the chapel auditorium in order to provide a much shorter walk to the theater.

  • Regular memberships cost $70 (for 5 shows!) and $35 for students. (We gently request, as a courtesy to our audience and the performers, that no children younger than age 5 be brought to the concerts.) Tickets purchased at the door are $30 for adults, $15 for students.

  • We now have courtesy seat cushions to increase audience comfort, more bathroom facilities have been made available, and the Wentworth Parents Club has established a refreshment stand. WMA cadets continue to assist us as ushers and escorts.

  • AND we now have our own telephone line!!!
  • The number is 660-259-2215 (rhymes with LIVE!). A recording is available at all times, 24/7. Calls will be returned promptly if there is a request for further information.

Stay tuned! We'll be back with more information this summer.
